Prominent Kannywood actor and philanthropist, Yakubu Muhammad, has donated a newly established Islamic school, complete with educational materials, to residents of Hotoro Tishama in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The school, named in honour of his late father, Sheikh Usman, was formally handed over to Islamic scholar, Malam Muhammad Tukur, who will oversee the teaching of the Holy Qur’an and other Islamic subjects to children in the community.
The handover ceremony, held on Friday evening, attracted several notable figures from the Kannywood film industry, including Abdul Ahmad, Falalu A. Dorayi, Nazifi Asnanic, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the event, Yakubu Muhammad explained that the initiative was inspired by a previous visit to the Tishama community, where he observed children receiving Islamic education under inadequate conditions in a dilapidated structure.
According to him, the situation prompted him to acquire a property comprising four classrooms and sanitary facilities, renovate the premises, and equip it with learning materials to provide a conducive environment for Islamic education.
He further noted that dedicating the school to the memory of his late father was a way of ensuring that the spiritual rewards of the charitable project continue to benefit him posthumously.
Community members and guests at the ceremony commended the gesture, describing it as a significant contribution to the advancement of religious education and the moral development of young people in the area.
The project has been widely praised as a reflection of the actor’s commitment to community development and educational empowerment.
