The Niger State Private Health Facilities Agency (NiSPHFA) has intensified its regulatory efforts to safeguard public health by recommending 66 private health facilities for approval while sealing three others for failing to meet the state's minimum healthcare standards.
According to a press release signed by Muhammad S. Abubakar, Information Officer of NiSPHFA, the routine inspection covered 68 private hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and diagnostic centres across Tafa, Suleja, Lapai, and Agaie Local Government Areas.
The statement noted that the inspection assessed compliance with licensing requirements, staffing, infrastructure, environmental hygiene, and infection prevention and control measures.
The exercise revealed that the majority of the facilities complied with the required standards and were recommended for registration or licence renewal, boosting public confidence in accessing safe, quality, and professionally managed healthcare services across the state.
However, some facilities were found wanting in critical areas, including poor environmental hygiene, inadequate infection prevention and control measures, the employment of unqualified personnel, and failure to obtain valid operational licences.
While facilities with minor deficiencies were given timelines to rectify the identified shortcomings, Supreme Clinic and Maternity, Rafin Sanyi; Fabram Peace Hospital Limited; and Godiya Hospital were sealed for serious regulatory violations, including operating without registration and employing unqualified personnel.
NiSPHFA reaffirmed its commitment to sustained monitoring, inspection, and enforcement of healthcare standards to protect the lives of Niger State residents and ensure that only qualified and properly regulated private health facilities operate across the state.
