The Kachia Chiefdom, under the authority of His Royal Highness, the Agom Kachia, Mr. Zamani Dogonyaro, JP, has conferred the traditional title of Marafan Kachia on the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIM, FNIIS (Katukan Yauri).
The conferment of the title is in recognition of the Managing Director’s contributions to the development of Kachia Chiefdom.
The announcement was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Kachia Chiefdom, Sarkin Samarin Kachia, Prince Markson S. Dangiwa, dated August 11, 2026.
According to the letter, the title was conferred on Alhaji Yelwa on merit, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Kachia Chiefdom.
The letter also requested the newly appointed Marafan Kachia to confirm his acceptance of the title before August 31, 2026, to enable the chiefdom to finalise arrangements and determine the date for the formal conferment ceremony.
