The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Niger State Chapter, has successfully conducted its election, with Comrade Ruqayyah M. Tanko emerging as the Chairman-Elect of the association.
The election was conducted peacefully and transparently, bringing together members, delegates and parliamentary staff from across the Niger State House of Assembly.
Comrade Tanko was affirmed as Chairman-Elect following the conclusion of the electoral process, marking a new chapter in the leadership of PASAN Niger State Chapter.
In her message of appreciation, the Chairman-Elect expressed profound gratitude to members of the association for their support, prayers, confidence, encouragement and goodwill throughout the electoral process.
She described her emergence as a collective victory for all PASAN members, pledging to approach the responsibility with humility and remain committed to fairness, transparency, inclusiveness and dedicated service.
Comrade Tanko particularly appreciated the Ex-Officio who represented the National PASAN President, Comrade Yaqub Yaro, for his presence, guidance and support throughout the electoral process.
She also expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger State Council, Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene, for honouring the occasion with his presence, solidarity, support and goodwill towards the successful conduct of the election.
The Chairman-Elect further commended the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Dr. Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, and the entire leadership of the House for their support, goodwill and encouragement.
She expressed particular gratitude to the Speaker for his words of encouragement and goodwill message, describing them as a source of motivation and reassurance as she prepares to assume office.
Comrade Tanko equally appreciated the Clerk of the Niger State House of Assembly and the management staff of the House for their support, cooperation and commitment to the welfare and progress of parliamentary staff.
She commended the Electoral Committee for its dedication, fairness and professionalism in conducting a peaceful, credible and successful election, noting that its efforts ensured an orderly and transparent process.
The Chairman-Elect also paid special tribute to the outgoing PASAN Chairman, Comrade Sanusi Salis, for his leadership, mentorship, guidance and unwavering support throughout his tenure.
She expressed appreciation for the foundation he had laid and the valuable experience and encouragement he had provided, describing his support as instrumental to the growth and continuity of PASAN in Niger State.
Comrade Tanko commended members for the maturity, unity and peaceful conduct displayed throughout the electoral process, stressing that the experience had strengthened her resolve to work towards building a stronger, more united and progressive PASAN Niger State Chapter.
She assured members that the new leadership would be inclusive and open to working with everyone irrespective of their differences, emphasising that the strength of the association lies in its unity and collective effort.
“As we begin this new chapter together, I look forward to working with everyone, irrespective of differences, because our strength lies in our unity and our success depends on our collective effort.”
She called on members to move forward together in the spirit of brotherhood, mutual respect and service.
Reaffirming her commitment to the association, Comrade Tanko declared:
“One Union, One Voice, One Vision.”
She concluded by thanking members for believing in her and entrusting her with the responsibility of leading PASAN Niger State Chapter, while praying for Allah’s continued blessings upon the members, the association, the Niger State House of Assembly and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
