The Acting Director of Community and Rural Development of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Malam Hassan Haruna, has engaged stakeholders from various government agencies and parastatals in Niger State as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and sustain interventions in critical areas.
The Acting Director's first stop was the Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in Minna, where he met with the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Inga.
Malam Haruna said the visit was aimed at exploring areas of collaboration and partnership to strengthen cooperation in humanitarian activities, disaster preparedness, and support for vulnerable communities within N-HYPPADEC's areas of operation.
The team also conducted an on-the-spot assessment of Dutsen Kura Primary and Secondary School in Minna. During the visit, the Acting Director was taken on a guided tour of the school facilities to identify areas requiring intervention.
Addressing the school management after the inspection, Malam Haruna highlighted N-HYPPADEC's interventions under its Schools Support Programme.
He assured the management of the Commission's commitment to sustaining and expanding the programme to improve the learning environment, address challenges associated with dilapidated infrastructure, and provide essential learning materials and teaching aids to schools in N-HYPPADEC's areas of operation.
In a related development, N-HYPPADEC paid a familiarisation visit to the Niger State Child Rights Agency as part of efforts to strengthen institutional relationships.
The visit focused on exploring possible areas of partnership, particularly in promoting the welfare, protection, and development of children in vulnerable communities.
The Commission also paid a courtesy visit to the Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs.
The visit, led by the Acting Director of Community and Rural Development, Malam Hassan Haruna, alongside the Head of the Gender Division, represented by Hajiya Rukaiya Shuibu, provided an opportunity to brief the Ministry on N-HYPPADEC's mandate and interventions, while highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by women and the need for stronger collaboration with the Ministry.
Discussions also focused on opportunities for additional interventions and projects aimed at improving the well-being of women and other vulnerable groups within the Commission's areas of operation.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Community and Rural Development received a courtesy visit from the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), which was aimed at appreciating the successful conduct of the N-HYPPADEC JAMB registration and enrolment exercise under the Schools Support Programme and exploring opportunities for further collaboration.
