The Niger State Government on Saturday, August 29, 2026, received the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who was in the state on a working visit.
The IGP was received by the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, who represented the Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Umaru Mohammed Bago.
The visit was part of the Inspector-General of Police’s efforts to obtain first-hand information on the security situation and operational activities of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, engage with relevant stakeholders, and strengthen strategies for enhancing peace and security.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the Niger State Government’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
Comrade Yakubu Garba stressed the importance of sustained collaboration among the state government, security agencies, traditional institutions, and communities in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens.
He expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the visit, noting that such engagements would further strengthen inter-agency cooperation and contribute to sustaining peace, stability, and development in Niger State.
In his remarks, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, said the visit was aimed at obtaining first-hand information on the operational activities of the Police Force in Niger State and evaluating ongoing efforts to rescue victims abducted by bandits in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.
The IGP noted that the security architecture in the state was working assiduously to address the situation and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to strengthening security operations and protecting the lives and property of residents across the state.
