Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has received the “Governor of the Year” award from Daily Times Nigeria newspaper.
The award was presented to him at the Daily Times Centenary Heroes Awards held in Abuja.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), some state governors, lawmakers, business leaders, technocrats, and other distinguished personalities were also honoured in various categories for their outstanding contributions and achievements.
Speaking to newsmen after receiving the award, the Farmer Governor expressed delight, describing the recognition as an additional motivation for him to do more for the overall benefit of the people of Niger State.
He appreciated Daily Times Nigeria for recognising his administration’s efforts in agriculture, support for agribusiness, infrastructure development, and other sectors.
Earlier, the Chairman of Folio Media Group, owners of Daily Times Nigeria, Fidelis Anosike, gave a brief history of the newspaper and thanked the Farmer Governor and other award recipients for their contributions to the service of humanity and their support for the organisation.
Some members of the Niger State Executive Council, other top government officials, and well-wishers of the Farmer Governor also attended the event.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of a book by the SGF and a keynote address by Dr. Akinwumi Ayodele Adesina, former President of the African Development Bank, who was also among the award recipients.
