The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has received more than 200,000 defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former ADC governorship aspirant, Hon. Jafaru Ibrahim Sani.
The reception, held at Filin Idin Katsinawa in Zaria, brought together APC leaders and supporters to welcome the new members into the party.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who led the APC delegation at the event, expressed delight at the development, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen the party’s structures and expand its grassroots support across Kaduna State.
He welcomed Sani and his supporters, noting that their decision to join the APC would create opportunities for deeper political engagement and collective efforts towards the development of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
According to Abbas, politics should be driven by the aspirations of the people and the creation of opportunities to improve their lives, rather than being defined solely by party affiliations.
He stressed the importance of bridging political divides, accommodating diverse perspectives and creating an environment in which party members could contribute meaningfully to the progress of the state and the nation.
The Speaker assured the new members of a warm reception and expressed hope that their integration into the APC would be guided by unity, mutual respect and a shared commitment to development.
He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to expanding its membership, strengthening its grassroots structures and sustaining engagement with the electorate.
The reported defection marks a significant political development in Zaria and could boost the APC’s presence in Kaduna State.
However, the claim that more than 200,000 ADC members defected to the APC was contained in an announcement by the party’s leadership and has not been independently verified.
