The Kaduna State Government and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, have advanced development efforts in Makarfi Local Government Area through the flag-off and commissioning of projects in education, healthcare and road infrastructure.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Abdulkadir Mu’azu Meyare, joined the Speaker at the ceremonies marking the commencement and completion of several projects facilitated by Abbas Tajudeen.

The projects include the groundbreaking for 10 new classroom blocks at Tashan Yari and the construction of male and female hostels with a combined capacity of 200 beds at the Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology.

The projects are expected to expand educational infrastructure and improve accommodation for students of the institution.

The delegation also commissioned a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Gazara to improve access to basic healthcare services for residents of the community and neighbouring areas.

Another project featured during the exercise was the construction of the Makarfi Bypass to Anguwan Geri and Anguwan Hudu. The road is expected to improve connectivity and ease movement between the affected communities upon completion.

The programme also included a planned visit to Government Commercial College, Makarfi, for the handover of a new vehicle to the school, alongside other development activities.

The projects reflect ongoing interventions in key sectors, particularly education, healthcare and transportation, which are critical to community development and the delivery of essential public services.

Kaduna Government Highlights Development Achievements

The activities in Makarfi come amid the Kaduna State Government’s broader infrastructure and social development programmes under Governor Uba Sani, who assumed office in 2023.

According to figures released by the state government, the administration has initiated more than 160 road projects covering approximately 1,355 kilometres across the state.

In the health sector, the government reports that 255 primary healthcare centres have been upgraded to Level Two. It has also completed and commissioned a 300-bed hospital in Millennium City and remodelled and equipped 16 general hospitals.

In education, the administration says it has constructed 62 new secondary schools under the first phase of its programme, while more than 100 additional schools are being constructed under the second phase.

The state government has also reported distributing 1,400 truckloads of fertiliser to farmers free of charge to support agricultural activities and improve productivity.

The interventions in Makarfi form part of broader development efforts by public officeholders across Kaduna State, with education, healthcare, road infrastructure and agricultural support remaining key areas of focus.

The impact of the projects will ultimately depend on their timely completion, effective utilisation and sustained maintenance to ensure that residents of Makarfi and neighbouring communities benefit from improved infrastructure and public services.
