
Shuhada Foundation of the Islamic movement in
Nigeria under the leadership of the detained leader of the movement, Sheikh
Ibraheem Zakzaky held an annual martyrdom day in Abuja. The event held on
Saturday 21st March, 2020. This year event marked as the 28th Anniversary of
the Martyrs of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
In a statement released shortly after the
program signed by Shaikh Abdulhamid Bello Zaria, the Chairman of Shuhada
Foundation and obtained by The Struggle Newspaper explained the aim and
objectives of the Foundation.
"On 21/3/2020 marks yet another
anniversary of the Shuhada Foundation that was inaugurated in Rajab 1412 AH
(January, 1992) by our revered Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) in Zaria."
"The aims and objectives of the Foundation
include among others: keeping record of Data of our Martyrs, commemorating the
affairs of our Martyrs, taking care of general welfare of the Martyrsٗ family,
taking care of the general education and ethics of the Martyrsٌ family,
collecting the stipulated donations from every member of the Movement, media
enlightenment on our Martyrs, regular Seminars/Workshops to keep abreast with
the functions of the Foundation. Publications on our Martyrs Martyrdom in the
form of Journals, Magazines and Books." the statement stressed.
The statement further explained the total
number of victims of oppression in Nigeria belong to the movement.
"We have total number of 1, 027 killed (Martyrs). Number of the Children
of the Martyrs are 2,308 while widows of the Martyrs reached 546. Total number
of the Parents of the Martyrs are 1,175."
