The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC has declared the former Minister of Information, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis of the PDP as the winner of the Zamfara Central Senate seat election held on Saturday.
Bilbis got 102,866 votes and defeated his opponent Former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa of the APC who got 91,216 votes.
Announcing the results of the election, the electoral officer for the zone, Professor Kabiru Abdullahi said, Ikra was declared the winner after fulfilling the legal requirements.
He said, "I am Professor Kabiru Abdullahi, here I confirm that I am the Returning Officer of Zamfara Central Senatorial seat in 2023 which was held on April 15, 2023".
"Marafa Kabiru Garba of APC got 91,216 votes while Aliyu Ikra Bilbis of PDP got 102,866 votes".
"Thus, Aliyu Ikra Bilbis of PDP, has fulfilled the legal requirements and has been announced as the winner of the senatorial election after the supplementary in some constituencies yesterday."
Similarly, PDP candidates were announced as the winners of the House of Representatives elections held in Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum constituencies.
In Gusau/Tsafe, Kabiru Amadu Maipalace of the PDP party got 63,589 votes and defeated the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji of the APC who got 52,495 votes.
In Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, Engineer Suleiman Abubakar Gummi of the PDP got 35,664 votes defeating Ahmed Mohammed of the APC who got 35,058 votes.
