The Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Patient Medicine Dealers (NAPMED) Sabon gari Market in Zaria of Kaduna State, Chima Amazu said they collaborated with NDLEA, NAFDAC, and Health ministries to fish out fake drugs, expired ones, and does that don't have NAFDAC No.
He stated this in an interview with newsmen in Zaria.
He further explained that they created an internal task force to search for fake drugs or drugs that have no expiring date or do not have NAFDAC No.
"If you violate our code of conduct through the task force we charge you or collect a token and sometimes you take undertaking you will not do it again", he said.
He explained that after they gathered all the fake, expired, and non-NAFDAC number drugs, they assembled them in their state head office in Kaduna.
He noted that ending of last year, "our state President ask us to bring the drugs we seized, he gathered it with others ones seized from other chapel and take it to NAFDAC for destruction. They destroyed about 15 million naira fake drugs".
The chairman also appreciated his members for their efforts and support towards the upliftment of the Association.
He therefore urged them to attend seminars and workshop for them to learn more and have vast knowledge of their businesses.
He appealed to the government to come to their rescue whenever the need arises. "We want Nigeria to be in peace, since there is a new government we are all happy, and our prayer is God will give our new president the wisdom to lead us", he prayed.
Chima Amazu said the past government did well and their hope is for the new president to do better than his predecessor.
"we will give our full support to the new government to make sure our country Nigeria moves forward", he ended.
