Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State led the flag-off ceremony of Paiko-Lapai road in Lapai today, March 28th, 2024, marking the completion of the road. 

Addressing the press during the event, Hon. Mu’azu Jantabo, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who stood in for Governor Umar Bago, emphasised the state government’s commitment to both urban renewal and rural development. He stressed that the overlay of asphalt on the road signifies the beginning of rural development initiatives in the state, with plans underway for the construction of 5km of roads in various local government councils to enhance transportation networks.

Echoing these facts, Hon. Suleiman Umar, the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, reiterates the importance of ensuring that the completed project meets specified standards. He highlighted that the ongoing project will have a positive impact on the local economy, as it will utilise local labour and resources from the beneficiary communities.

Representing the contractor, Soject Nigeria Limited, Mr. Fedi Chedidi expressed satisfaction with the government's commitment and disclosed that they are not facing any challenges in terms of funding.
