As a concerned citizen of Niger State, Ambassador Yahuza Umar Asasa has commended the governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago for combating the resurgence of thuggery and other violent criminal activities perpetrated by street gangs, known as 'Yan Daba' in the state.
Ambassador Yahuza said; "it deems it necessary to express my appreciation for your efforts in combating the resurgence of thuggery and other violent criminal activities perpetrated by street gangs, known as 'Yan Daba'."
He further narrated that: "The activities of 'Yan Daba' have been observed in various locations within the state, particularly in the capital city of Minna Metropolitan.
He called on the Niger state government to establish Anti-Daba units: "Your Excellencies, Umaru Mohammed Bago and Yakubu Garba, I kindly urge you to establish Anti-Daba Units and replace Operation Flush with Anti-Daba initiatives, utilizing crime control strategies, such as the deployment of Mobile Police (Mopols).
"Taking into account their successful track record in managing communal clashes in the Eastern and Southern regions of Nigeria, the Mobile Police have demonstrated effectiveness in maintaining peace and order.
"Furthermore, the Mobile Police should enhance their community engagement efforts by collaborating with relevant stakeholders in community policing and utilizing strategic communication through their Public Relations Units to foster synergy and promote peace throughout the state", he concluded.
