An Islamic cleric in Zaria has condemned the killing of members of the Islamic movement, known as Shiites, in Zaria and Kaduna, as reported by the Daily Struggle Newspaper.
Sheikh Imam Abdullahi Usman, an Islamic cleric, criticized the Nigerian authorities for allowing the Nigerian Police Force to kill innocent civilians during a Pro-Palestinian protest in Zaria and Kaduna.
Daily Struggle reported that on Friday, during an annual Quds protest, the Nigerian police force killed 5 people in Kaduna and 3 in Zaria.
The Islamic cleric stated that the brutality perpetrated by the Nigerian police on Friday was uncalled for because it is on record that people of conscience around the world hold peaceful protests in support of Palestinians every Friday at the end of Ramadan, which he said the Islamic movement in Nigeria is known for participating in.
He stressed, 'International Quds Day is an annual event held all over the world, not only in Nigeria. Only ignorance would prevent someone from understanding the event. It is a procession in support of Palestinians worldwide. Lack of knowledge and civilization has made some people elated because those they hate were killed.'
He offered his condolences to the Islamic movement under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and prayed for solace for the families that lost their loved ones."
