The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kabiru Bala, officially declared the seminar open and charged members to remain committed in their legitimate struggle.
Bala, represented by the Director of the Centre of Excellence, Professor Auwal Haruna, stated that the theme of the seminar is apt and timely. He urged members to appreciate the topics selected for the seminar in order to reawaken them to start preparing for their retirement, considering the current situation in the country's public service.
In his remarks, the National Vice President of the Association, North West, Comrade Aliyu A. Adamu, expressed satisfaction with the ABU branch for choosing to train its members on how to maintain themselves when they retire. Comrade Adamu highlighted that this kind of lecture is ongoing in the union activities of all member universities in the country.
He advised the ABU SSANU branch not to relent on the programs aimed at promoting knowledge among its members.
Similarly, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, congratulated SSANU for organizing the lecture series. The emir, represented by the District Head of Basawa, Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, urged members to make use of the lecture for their own benefit and future.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of SSANU/ABU Branch, Comrade Muhammad A. Yunusa, highlighted the diligent work of the executive members over the years in upholding the values and objectives of the association, steering them towards greater success and progress.
He emphasized that this year's seminar is not just a routine gathering but a platform to delve into critical matters that affect the well-being of their members.
According to the Chairman, through proper sensitization and education, the association can be equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain good health and well-being, including retirement planning and the importance of financial preparedness.
The theme of the lecture is "Financial Planning and Emotional Well-Being in Retirement: A Comprehensive Guide for Civil Servants."
