A twenty-six-year-old man, Mohammed Abba Yahaya, from Tungan Goro area in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, has been arraigned before Magistrate Court Eight in Minna for causing grievous harm to a 400-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Miss Hassana Sani of Kangiwa area, Chanchaga.
According to the police report, the suspect, believed to be a former boyfriend of Hassana Sani, allegedly attacked her last month, inflicting serious injuries on her right eye and stealing her handset valued at two hundred and ten thousand naira.
The report further indicates that the victim's mother, Fatima Sani, a widow, reported the matter at Chanchaga Police Station. The case was later referred to the Police CID Headquarters for further investigation.
The offense, according to the police report, contravenes Section 2 (4) of the Criminal Penal Code Law.
