The emir of Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, Mallam Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II, has called on the people of the emirate to unite in order to achieve a unity of purpose.

The emir made the call while addressing traditional, religious, and political leaders in his palace on Sunday, July 21, 2024, when they paid him homage and welcomed him back from a state assignment as this year’s Amirul Hajj.

The emir, who hosted the occasion, called on all stakeholders of the emirate, both within and outside, to give their fullest support and maximum cooperation to foster the development of the emirate. According to him, no state or nation can develop when its citizens are in disarray.

The emir explained that for the emirate to achieve its aims and desires for peace and development, all hands must be on deck to work as a team.

While responding to remarks by the Member of the House of Representatives representing Rafi, Munya, and Shiroro Constituency, Hon. Isma’ila Modibbo, Mallam Attahiru Gunna II called on all political leaders, public office holders, and traditional leaders to support the member in his quest to bring development, achieve purposeful leadership, and unity of purpose to defeat the insecurity bedevilling the area. He emphasized that without security, nothing tangible can be achieved in terms of development.

While appreciating the leadership drive of the political leaders in the area, the royal father cautioned all and sundry about the dangers of living carelessly without specific political leadership within the emirate to guide others.

Mallam Ahmed Attahiru II called on all stakeholders in the emirate to participate actively and fully in charting a new course and political order that could result in the much-needed development of the area. He added that all former commissioners, retired permanent secretaries and directors, former federal and state legislators, political gladiators, and former council chairmen, among others, should come forward and put their hands on deck as stakeholders to chart a new course for the emirate to achieve a new dawn.

The emir also received a visit from the Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Umar Sanda Rebe.

Earlier in his remarks, the commissioner told the emir that the ministry under his watch was exploring all avenues, including holding meetings with all security agencies, including vigilante corps and 'yan-sa-kai, towards finding ways to address the dwindling security issues in some parts of the state. He highlighted that he has directed all Fulani leaders (Ardos) in Kagara Emirate to liaise with the district and village heads in their areas of abode to discuss ways to address the insecurity challenges.

The commissioner affirmed that Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has directed his ministry to cooperate with all relevant security agencies to tackle the herders/farmers clashes and curb the rising insecurity in the state.

Umaru Rebe outlined some plans by his ministry to work hand-in-glove with security agencies, traditional leaders, political leaders, religious leaders, local government councils, and courts, among others, to address insecurity in the state.

He added that the ministry is working towards capturing the data of all the Fulanis resident in the state, with the aim of identifying any infiltration or infractions by foreign Fulbes.

The traditional homage that is customary in every Sallah celebration did not take place during the last Eid-el-Kabir celebration because the emir was away on a state assignment as the state’s Amirul-Hajj.

All the district and village heads, traditional title holders, political leaders, religious leaders, and relevant stakeholders graced the occasion.

The emir went into a closed-door meeting with the emirate’s stakeholders to discuss security and other matters affecting the emirate after attending to all the Fulani leaders (Ardos) of the emirate, led by the Hon. Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Umar Sanda Rebe.
