Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 100 level two Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.
The Farmer Governor conducted the groundbreaking at the Sen. Idris Kuta Primary Healthcare Centre in Minna.
He explained that the establishment of these level two Primary Healthcare Centres aligns with his administration's New Niger Agenda, which aims to reduce the hardship faced by common citizens seeking healthcare services.
The Farmer Governor disclosed that the 100 centres would be completed within two years, with 20 of them to be finished in the next 10 weeks to demonstrate his commitment to the well-being of the citizenry.
He announced that the Primary Healthcare Centres would provide staff quarters and ambulances.
The Farmer Governor also revealed that his administration will allocate N200 million as a counterpart fund to provide social security and health insurance for 30,000 Nigerlites.
To support students, he stated that medical students would receive a N150,000 scholarship, those studying law, engineering, and sciences would get N100,000 each, and those studying social sciences and other courses would receive N50,000.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago urged the people to continue to be patient and understanding with the Federal and State Governments as they roll out plans to achieve the desired objectives.
He also encouraged people to remain vigilant in their environments.
The Farmer Governor directed the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy to provide renewable sources of power to all the Primary Healthcare Centres. He also called on the General Manager of the Niger State Community Social Development Agency (CSDA) to collaborate with relevant ministries to ensure the project's successful execution.
The Commissioner for Primary Health Care Development, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana, stated that the level two Primary Healthcare Centres would include labor rooms, wards for women, men, and children, and would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, ambulances, and staff quarters to ensure effective service delivery.
Dr. Dangana added that the facilities would serve no less than 10,000 people within their catchment areas, highlighting the Farmer Governor's significant contributions.
The Commissioner also read commendation messages from the Minister of Health and Social Welfare and the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, praising Farmer Governor Umaru Bago's efforts and pledging to emulate him at the federal level.
Earlier, the General Manager of Niger State (CSDA), Hajiya Aisha Abdulkadir, said the project would complement the New Niger Agenda of the current administration and facilitate rural transformation in the state.
Commending the Farmer Governor for the project, she mentioned that additional interventions would take place in communities across the state.
