Niger Foods has received another batch of 200 tractors from John Deere in preparation for the upcoming dry-season farming.
The state government will increase its farming capacity from the initial 250,000 hectares cultivated during the rainy season.
The seeds to be used for the dry season are hybrids, which have already been purchased by Niger Foods, as shown in the accompanying pictures.
Additionally, Bayer AG, a German-based pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and agricultural company, will be supplying more seeds to Niger Foods. This is in accordance with the MOU signed in April this year at the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings side event in Washington, USA.
The state government will cultivate rice, maize, millet, sorghum, and beans.
The expected outcome for the upcoming dry season production of all the grains is one million tonnes.
