Acting Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has paid a condolence visit to the people of Anguwan Mai-Gero, a community recently attacked by bandits, resulting in the loss of many lives.

Comrade Garba, who interacted with community members and assessed the situation, expressed his sympathy for those affected by the incident.

Speaking to journalists after the interactive session and on-the-spot assessment, the Acting Governor stated that security agencies would conduct a thorough investigation into the attack and report the findings to the government.

He noted that insecurity is undermining the agricultural revolution initiated by the current administration in the state, as farmers are being driven out of their communities by bandits.

However, the Acting Governor assured that the government is doing everything possible to change the narrative and curb the tide of insecurity in the state.

He took the opportunity to dispel rumours circulating on social media that the victims were involved in mining, clarifying that they were residing in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp and had gone to Anguwan Mai-Gero for farming purposes.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Shawulu Danmamman, assured that an investigation would be launched to understand the cause of the attack, identify the attackers, and provide justice for the victims.
