The Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has received with sadness and pain reports of yet another heinous banditry attack in Bassa and Anguwan Magiro villages, both in Shiroro Local Government Area, which occurred on the 20th and 21st of August, 2024.
In a press release signed by Habibu Wushishi, Director of Media and Strategy for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Niger State, the following summary of the aftermath of the attacks was provided:
Bassa:
No lives were lost.
Three shops were broken into.
No abductions were reported.
Anguwan Magiro:
Thirteen persons were confirmed dead, with many injured.
No abductions were reported.
Over 12 neighbouring villages have been displaced, with their residents currently in the Erena IDPs camp, though their numbers have yet to be ascertained.
The Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management extend their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the Shiroro Local Government, and all Nigerlites.
