The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has partnered with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to educate its members across the 774 local government areas on procurement practices, financial management, due process, accountability, and transparency.
This initiative was announced in a communique issued after the association’s 49th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The communique was jointly signed by ALGON’s National Publicity Secretary, Bala Chamoo, and National Treasurer, Gazal Babatunde.
According to the communique, the NEC reached seven key resolutions designed to enhance the association’s service to Nigerians. These resolutions include partnering with the EFCC, capacity building and stakeholder engagement, improving service delivery and managing expectations, advocacy and partnerships, implementing Supreme Court judgments, fostering optimism and expected outcomes, and strengthening primary healthcare services.
The communique stated: “Partnership with EFCC: The NEC is collaborating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to educate its members on procurement practices, financial management, due process, accountability, and transparency."
