The Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service (JIRS), under the leadership of Chairman Nasir Sabo Idris, organized an awareness program for tax collectors in the state.
The event began with an opening prayer and a welcome message from the Board Secretary, followed by an introduction session for the participants.
The Secretary emphasized that this program is one of several initiatives introduced by the capable Chairman to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Board's services, particularly in improving tax revenue collection for Jigawa State.
During his address, Chairman Nasir Sabo Idris announced the launch of a new platform for tax payment and monitoring across the state. "This innovative system digitizes the entire process of tax collection and payment, making it user-friendly even for individuals with no ICT knowledge," said the Chairman.
He further explained that the platform includes a modern self-assessment feature, allowing taxpayers to input the amount they owe, with the system automatically calculating the percentage to be paid as tax.
This initiative aligns with the broader agenda of Governor Umar A. Namadi, FCA, who is committed to advancing the state's digital infrastructure. The Chairman also urged tax collectors to exercise patience and honesty in their duties, advising them to report any instances of taxpayer misconduct to management for prompt action, rather than responding independently, which could lead to negative outcomes.
In his closing remarks, the Board Secretary thanked the participants for their continued cooperation with management and informed them that similar programs would be conducted twice a month, as agreed upon by the Board.
