A group of Bauchi State patriots has issued a fresh challenge to former Speaker of the 8th National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, urging him to cease inflaming political tensions, which could expose more of his alleged misdeeds during his tenure as the representative of the Dass/Bogoro/Tafawa Balewa constituency.
In a statement made available to selected investigative news outlets, the group, through its spokesperson John Mosses, questioned how Dogara acquired multi-billion-naira properties, including houses and edifices, within a short period.
The statement read: "Mr Dogara, can you explain what your representation yielded for the people of your constituency, not to mention Bauchi State at large? Are these numerous properties your constituency projects? No other National Assembly member from Bauchi has amassed such worldly possessions as you. It is on record that you are the least performing House of Representatives member in Bauchi State's history, and your four years as Speaker were a disgrace to the state."
The group further advised Dogara to offer constructive criticism if he intends to critique Governor Bala Mohammed, noting that Governor Mohammed is the only governor in Bauchi State's history to receive commendations from all previous governors for building a new, global-standard Government House—a project intended to enhance service delivery. "The new Government House is for the state, not for the governor. Are you envious of the state's progress, or are you unhappy with the development?" the statement added.
Regarding the flyover project, the group stated, "Yes, we need it in Bauchi State. The state is growing in population and developing structurally. We have more people and more vehicles, and the flyover project is crucial at this moment. Those of us living in Bauchi understand our needs, and we are very pleased with the project's progress."
In conclusion, the group cautioned Dogara and his ally, the "novice senator," to be careful with their "immature condemnation" of Governor Bala Mohammed's administration, which they claim is far superior to both Dogara's and the senator's public and private service records in Bauchi State.
The group also contrasted Dogara's actions with those of Femi Gbajabiamila, who, during his time as Speaker, built a hospital for his people. "While Gbajabiamila was building for his community, you were busy acquiring properties of no value to your constituents or Bauchi State as a whole," the statement concluded.
