A government-allocated truckload of fertilizer was looted by some youths in Demsa town, Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The incident occurred at the palace of the paramount traditional ruler, Hama Bata Alhamdu Teneke.

The looting reportedly happened due to a lack of proper storage facilities in the local government area. The truck, which was being transported to the king's palace for safekeeping, fell into a drain. As it became stuck, youths in the area began looting the fertilizer.

The Council Chairman, Hon. Akam Sanda Jallo, confirmed the incident and criticized the vendor for not informing him of their journey to deliver the fertilizer to the Hama Bata's palace. He noted that the vendor, responsible for the distribution of fertilizer in Yola, should have awaited his go-ahead before commencing the trip to Demsa.

Jallo also revealed that they have identified a prime suspect who allegedly incited the youths to loot the fertilizer, which was intended for distribution to local farmers during the rainy season. He denied rumors that the looters were connected to the #EndBadGovernance protesters, clarifying that the theft was orchestrated by the unnamed suspect.

He further explained that the truck became stuck and eventually fell due to the poor condition of the road, creating an opportunity for some youths in Demsa to loot the fertilizer.

A security source confirmed that several youths have been arrested in connection with the looting and are accused of distributing the stolen fertilizer.
