Hon. Mahmud Lawal Sama'ila, also known as Bola Ige, the member representing Zaria Constituency, has awarded scholarships totaling N500,000 to 10 students. These scholarships will enable the recipients to pursue a Diploma in Qur'anic Science Education at ELSA College of Advanced Studies, an affiliate of Kaduna State University.
The lawmaker made this announcement during the closing ceremony of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaka) organized by JIBWIS National Headquarters, Jos, held at the Youth Center in Zaria.
As the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Sama'ila explained that the scholarships aim to encourage academic excellence and promote education within his constituency. Each selected student will receive N50,000 as part of the scholarship package.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the students' educational aspirations, ensuring their active participation in all related programs and activities.
"I was delighted by our students’ outstanding performances," he stated. "They achieved remarkable results, including first place in the 1st category, third place in the 2nd category, and first place in the 40 Hifz category. To further motivate them, I awarded N100,000 to the top three students."
In a related development, Hon. Mahmud Lawal visited ELSA College, where he met with leaders of the Zaria Women in Da’awa group. During the visit, he pledged to continue investing in education for the betterment of the community and society at large.
