The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Zamfara Sector Command has sought a partnership with the Zamfara State Fire Service to train its personnel in firefighting techniques.
During a courtesy visit to the Director of the State Fire Service Board, Abdullahi Jibbo, in Gusau on Tuesday, Sector Commandant Umar Massaudu emphasized the importance of equipping FRSC personnel with firefighting skills for effective rescue operations in road accidents.
"Some road crashes involve fire outbreaks, making it crucial for our personnel to know how to operate firefighting tools to save lives and property," Massaudu said. He also requested assistance in providing fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment.
In addition, Massaudu called on the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, to support public safety campaigns by encouraging road users to practice safety measures.
In response, Jibbo assured the FRSC of full support, including the provision of fire prevention tools. "When FRSC personnel are equipped to fight fires during accidents, more lives and property can be saved," Jibbo stated.
