Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has signed into law two bills amending the office of the Auditor-General for the State and the office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments.
The signing ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Minna.
The new laws are titled: “A Law to Amend the Office of the Auditor-General of the State Law 2021 and for Connected Purposes, 2024” and “A Law to Amend the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government Law 2021 and for Other Connected Purposes, 2024.”
Speaking to journalists, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barr. Nasir Mu’azu, explained that the first law was amended by replacing the word “bill,” which had been incorrectly used multiple times, with “law.”
He further stated that the second law was amended to introduce a new subsection seven, which allocates a certain percentage of funds for the office of the Auditor-General and its employees.
