In its sustained onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the state, on June 21st, 2024, at about 13:30 hours, a group of armed bandits, riding on motorcycles, invaded Kurgeye village in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State and kidnapped one Malami Danladi along with his son, Bello Danladi. Upon receiving the report, a team of 36 PMF personnel on special duty, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, swiftly responded and pursued the bandits, resulting in a firefight. During the exchange, one of the bandits was shot dead, and one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, along with a Bajaj motorcycle, was recovered.

In a press release by SP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer for the Kebbi State Command, it was further reported that on September 3rd, 2024, at about 13:00 hours, a team of policemen, while on joint patrol with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria along the Ribah-Kanya road, intercepted and arrested two suspects: Isiya Alhaji Usman and Yunusa Yusuf, both residents of Auda village in Danko/Wasagu LGA. The suspects are believed to be part of the bandits terrorizing the area. Upon searching them, the police recovered one K2 rifle, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and sixty-six rounds of live ammunition.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the officers for their bravery and urged them to not only maintain the current momentum but to improve upon it. The CP also charged police personnel and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify their collaboration in order to decisively combat the bandits and other criminal elements, ensuring that socio-economic activities can thrive in the state.

The CP further directed that the arrested suspects and the recovered exhibits be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.
