The victims, residents of Kwandari town, were en route to Saminaka for a Maulud celebration commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S), which takes place annually in the Islamic month of Rabi'ul Auwal.

Hon. Saifullahi Usman Saminaka, Secretary to Lere Local Government, confirmed the incident while addressing the press at the palace of the Emir of Kwandari, where a gathering was held to welcome renowned Islamic scholar and the national leader of Maj'ma'ul -Ahbabul-Sheik Ibrahim Inyass. He described the event as a great calamity but assured that appropriate measures were being taken.

Investigations revealed that many of the deceased were children, all members of the Maj'ma'ul-Ahababul-Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass (r) Lere Branch.

Following the tragedy, the national body of the organization sent Sheikh Sharif Muhammad Danlami Zaria, Imam of Railway Sabon Gari Juma'at Mosque, to offer condolences to the victims' families and the wider Muslim community in Kaduna State.

While addressing the press at the Emir's palace in Kwandari, Sheikh Sharif confirmed that 33 people had died, while 23 others were receiving medical treatment. He expressed his deep sympathy and urged the local, state, and federal governments to support the orphans left behind by the accident.

Sheikh Sharif also praised those who had donated money and food to the bereaved families and called on religious leaders and community organizers to take precautions during such events to prevent future tragedies. He prayed for the souls of the deceased, referring to them as martyrs since they died while celebrating the Prophet's birth.

The Emir of Kwandari, Malam Kabiru Dan-Asabe, described the accident as a major trial for the town. He confirmed the deaths of 33 people at the scene and noted that 27 others were still hospitalized with severe injuries.
