The Commander General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, Ambassador Umar Aliyu Shayi, has been honored with an Outstanding Performance Award in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening the security architecture of Bauchi State.
Ambassador Umar Aliyu Shayi, who currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to Governor Bala Mohammad of Bauchi State, also holds other key security positions. He is the Commandant of the Special Constabulary Police, Bauchi State Command, and Assistant Commandant General of Operations for the Nigeria Hunters and Forestry Security Service.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at Mountain Hills School, Share, in Plateau State. This prestigious recognition is the first of its kind in the history of the agency.
The award followed a capacity-building training on leadership and citizenship, organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in Abuja, Nigeria. This accolade underscores the commitment, hope, and wisdom demonstrated by Governor Bala Mohammad’s administration in prioritizing the security of lives and property across the state.
Ambassador Shayi has previously received numerous awards for excellence, recognizing his contributions to sustainable humanity, security infrastructure, and philanthropy. Under his leadership, the Bauchi Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency has collaborated with conventional security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, professionalism, and combat operations. His efforts align with global best practices in the fight against terrorism, banditry, cattle rustling, and other forms of crime.
Among his recent recognitions is an Award of Excellence from the Bauchi State Police Command for his contributions to public safety and the security of lives and property. Governor Bala Mohammad Abdulkadir of Bauchi State was also a recipient of this award.
Dr. Shayi has been recognized both nationally and internationally for his commitment, professionalism, and integrity. He recently completed an international security systems capacity-building training in the Israel Federation, where he received a certificate of recognition and participation.
Ambassador Umar Aliyu Shayi has undertaken numerous professional security-related courses and certifications in crime management and control. His effective supervision, monitoring, and collaboration with conventional security agencies have contributed to the peace, development, and prosperity currently enjoyed in Bauchi State under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammad, the statement concluded.
