Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, fondly referred to as the "Farmer Governor," has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Voice of Africa (VOA) Canada Torchbearer Award. This honor recognizes his exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing agriculture, enhancing food security, and driving infrastructural development in Niger State.
The award was presented to Governor Bago in Toronto, Canada.
Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Governor Bago reaffirmed his commitment to forging partnerships with national and international stakeholders, particularly the Canadian business community, to promote food security and economic opportunities in Niger State.
VOA Canada, a Toronto-based media, public relations, and management consulting firm, promotes African content and fosters collaborations between African and Canadian organizations. The VOA Canada Torchbearer Award honors individuals and organizations making notable contributions to Black communities worldwide. This year, Governor Bago was recognized for his remarkable efforts in advancing agricultural development and promoting good governance, which earned him the esteemed accolade.
