The Federal Government has lauded Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his proactive interventions on federal road projects across the state.

During an interactive session in Abuja between the Federal Ministry of Works, the Niger State Government, and contractors handling federal road projects, Minister of Works Sen. David Umahi described Governor Bago’s efforts as exemplary. He praised the governor for leading a state delegation to review ongoing federal road projects, which aimed to resolve challenges and ensure progress.

Sen. Umahi urged other governors to follow Bago's example, emphasizing the importance of consistent supervision and improved collaboration between federal legislators and the ministry for better funding and project execution. He also warned contractors to adhere to project specifications, stating that non-compliance would result in contract termination.

Minister of State for Works Bello Goronyo commended Governor Bago’s dedication to people-oriented programs, describing him as a passionate and hardworking leader committed to his people’s welfare.

Governor Bago revealed that Niger State is currently intervening in 18 federal road projects to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He advocated for quarterly peer reviews to encourage similar efforts by other states and applauded the Minister of Works for his competence and determination.

The Niger State delegation included Senators Mohammed Sani Musa and Peter Jiya, members of the House of Representatives, top state officials, and stakeholders involved in the New Niger Development Project.
