The Federal Government, through the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a stern warning to contractors handling ten ongoing federal road projects in Niger State. The contractors were instructed to mobilize to their sites immediately and ensure the speedy and quality completion of their projects or face contract termination.
Minister Umahi expressed dissatisfaction with the delays and emphasized that the government would not tolerate contractors who collect funds but fail to deliver projects in line with the administration's policy direction.
The ten affected projects, inherited from previous administrations, include:
- 52km Agaje-Katcha-Baro Road (Contract No: 6254) by GR Building and Construction Nig. Ltd.
- Dualization of Suleja–Lambata–Minna Road, Phase I (Contract No: 6077) by Salini Nigeria Ltd.
- Dualization of Suleja–Lambata–Minna Road, Phase II (Contract No: 6267) by Salini Nigeria Ltd.
- Dualization of Ilorin–Jebba–Mokwa–Bokani Junction Road Section I (Jebba–Mokwa–Bokani Junction) by CGC Nig. Ltd.
- Dualization of Ilorin–Jebba–Mokwa–Bokani Junction Road Section II (Jebba–Mokwa–Bokani Junction) by CGC Nig. Ltd.
- Reconstruction of Bida–Lapai–Lambatta Road (Contract No: 6272) by CGC Nig. Ltd.
- Rehabilitation of Mokwa–Makera–Tegina–Kaduna State Road by CGC Nig. Ltd.
- Minna–Zungeru–Tegina–Kontagora Road (Section 2) by Gilmor Engineering Nig. Ltd.
- Construction of Minna–Zungeru–Tegina Road (Contract No: 7732) by Develeco Nig. Ltd./HMF Construction Ltd.
- Reconstruction of Bida–Cernu–Wushishi–Zungeru Road, Phase I (Contract No: 8492) by Gerawa Global Engineering Ltd.
The minister reiterated that the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to delivering on infrastructure projects across the country. Contractors who fail to align with this vision will face severe consequences, including termination of their contracts.
This warning underscores the government's resolve to hold contractors accountable and ensure timely delivery of infrastructure projects that are critical to national development.
