The Niger State Government has signed an agreement with Flour Mills of Nigeria to integrate the company into the state’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone.

The agreement was signed at the Government House in Minna. The Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Abubakar Usman, signed on behalf of the state, while the Chairman of Flour Mills of Nigeria, Mr. John Coumantaros, signed for the company.

Discussing the agreement, the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, emphasized that this partnership is aimed at creating a synergy in agriculture. He expressed optimism that the collaboration would advance agriculture and industrialization not only in Niger State but across Nigeria.

Mr. Coumantaros described Niger State as a significant agricultural and industrial center in Nigeria. He noted that integrating Flour Mills of Nigeria into the state’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone is a major milestone for both the company and the state. “A farm without a factory is a weed, and a factory without a farm is scrap,” he said, emphasizing that this union of agriculture and industry has the potential to greatly benefit the citizens of Niger State.

Earlier, Commissioner for Industries, Trade, and Investment, Aminu Suleiman Takuma, highlighted the preparations the state government undertook before admitting Flour Mills of Nigeria into the zone. He mentioned that the African Development Bank has recognized the competence and capacity of Flour Mills of Nigeria and committed to establishing an Agricultural Transformation Centre at Sunti following the company’s inclusion in the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone.
