The Niger State chapter of The New Nigerian Project (TNP) held its inaugural meeting on November 27, 2024, at the IBB University Guest House in Minna. The meeting aimed to reintroduce members to the group's objectives and reaffirm its support for the ideals of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) and the current administration of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.

The TNP, originally formed during General Babangida's 2007 presidential campaign, was revived to nurture future leaders who can uphold and expand on his legacy.

Speaking at the event, the State Acting Coordinator, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, highlighted IBB's numerous achievements and emphasized the importance of fostering a new generation of leaders committed to his vision.

The Assistant Acting State Coordinator, Comrade Zahradeen Babangida Kudodo, also praised General Babangida's legacy while applauding Governor Mohammed Umar Bago's administration. He lauded the governor's strides in agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development, describing him as a leader who embodies IBB's ideals.

Comrade Kudodo pledged TNP's unwavering support for Governor Bago and his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, urging Nigerlites to rally behind their leadership. He declared TNP's endorsement of Governor Bago for the 2027 elections, whether for a second gubernatorial term or a presidential ambition.

"If Governor Bago aims for the highest office in the land, TNP will stand firmly behind him," Kudodo said. He also proposed that, in such a scenario, Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba—described as sharing Bago's vision—should continue the state's progress by taking up leadership.

The meeting concluded with the establishment of TNP's structures at zonal and local government levels.

Reflecting on the broader purpose of the group, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim remarked, "The Nigerian Project is also a Niger Project. We don’t need rulers; we need leaders committed to building a lasting legacy for the people."
