The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has officially commenced the reconstruction of the Malam Abdulkarim Juma’at Mosque at the Palace of the Emir of Zazzau in Zaria.

The groundbreaking ceremony, organized by the Zazzau Emirate Council under the leadership of the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, marked the beginning of this significant project.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Chairman of ASR Africa and BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, traditional rulers, government officials, district heads, titleholders, and members of the public.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, who hosted the event, welcomed the esteemed guests, including His Excellency Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, and Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, among others.

In his remarks, Governor Sani expressed deep appreciation for the contributions towards the mosque’s reconstruction and prayed for Allah’s blessings on all those involved. He highlighted that the new structure will not only serve as a place of worship but will also attract tourism to the state.

The Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, commended the committee members for their dedication to the project and extended special gratitude to Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu for taking on the significant financial responsibility of rebuilding the mosque.

Originally constructed in 1836, the Malam Abdulkarim Juma’at Mosque stands as a symbol of the rich history and architectural heritage of the region. After its unfortunate collapse on August 10, 2023, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu committed to the reconstruction, ensuring the mosque regains its prominence.

The new mosque will feature:

  • A capacity for 2,000 worshippers across two floors.
  • A spacious courtyard accommodating an additional 5,000 worshippers.
  • Modern facilities including an ablution area, a library, an ICT center, and administrative offices to support mosque operations.

Speaking at the event, several guests praised the Chairman of ASR Africa for his generosity and prayed for others to emulate his dedication to humanitarian efforts.

The ASR Africa Initiative, founded in 2021 by African industrialist and philanthropist Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, aims to deliver sustainable, impact-driven solutions to developmental challenges across Health, Education, and Social Development in Africa.
