Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the Farmer Governor, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in facilitating the reopening of the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the refinery’s reopening as a monumental achievement and a significant step toward revitalizing Nigeria’s capacity for local crude oil production and refining.
He commended President Tinubu’s dedication to restoring the refinery after years of inactivity, noting that this move underscores the President’s commitment to transforming the petroleum downstream sector and reviving Nigeria’s standing as a global oil powerhouse.
“The Warri Refinery, now operating at 60% capacity and producing 125,000 barrels per day, will complement the fully operational Port Harcourt Refinery, which was also revived in November. These developments are clear evidence of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians,” Governor Bago stated.
The governor also praised the leadership of NNPC Ltd., under the stewardship of Mele Kyari, for its tireless efforts in executing the President’s mandate. He expressed optimism that the Kaduna Refinery and the Port Harcourt Refinery’s additional 150,000-barrel-per-day capacity would soon be fully operational, further strengthening Nigeria’s refining capabilities.
Governor Bago emphasized the significant positive impact of the refinery reopenings, highlighting their potential to restore citizens’ confidence and boost the nation’s economy.
“It is noteworthy that under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the Warri Refinery is resuming operations, following the successful revival of the Port Harcourt Refinery, which now produces 60,000 barrels per day. These achievements mark a turning point in Nigeria’s journey toward energy independence and economic resurgence,” he added.
Governor Bago’s commendation reflects the growing support for President Tinubu’s efforts to modernize Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, signaling a renewed commitment to leveraging the nation’s vast resources for sustainable development.
