Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on Muslims and Nigerians in general to remain steadfast in prayers for the peace, unity, and development of the country.
The governor made the call in an interview with journalists shortly after observing the two-unit congregational Eid-el-Kabir prayer at the Central Eid Prayer Ground in Minna.
Governor Bago congratulated Muslims on witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged them to use the occasion to reflect spiritually, draw closer to Allah through worship, and seek forgiveness.
Speaking on the significance of Eid prayers, the governor said the gathering provides an opportunity for people from different backgrounds to unite in prayer and supplication for the nation.
He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and appealed to citizens to remain patient with the government, assuring that efforts were ongoing to improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
Former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, also congratulated Muslims across the world on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed for sustained peace and prosperity in the country.
He urged Nigerians to embrace love, unity, and peaceful coexistence in all their dealings.
Earlier, the Deputy Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Malam Habibu Abubakar Maibasira, led the two-unit congregational Eid prayer and delivered a sermon emphasising the importance of sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to Allah.
Among dignitaries present at the prayer ground were former Niger State Governor, Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu; Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba; Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman; the Umar Faruk Bahago; and Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad, among others.
