The Zaria Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched its Ember Months sensitization campaign to educate the public on road safety laws.

Speaking at the forum held at the AA Ladan Hall of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, the Sector Commander of RS1 Kaduna, Kabiru Yusuf Nadabo, who represented the Zonal Commander, described the Ember Months as a particularly busy period due to increased travel activities.

He expressed concern over the reckless behavior of some drivers, whose dangerous driving endangers passengers' lives. Commander Nadabo urged transport unions to intensify efforts in educating their members about the risks associated with violating traffic rules.

Commending the Zaria FRSC Unit for organizing the event, he described the unit as exemplary in its dedication.

The program, themed "Speak Up Against Reckless Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers," featured speakers who highlighted the dangers of dangerous driving.

From a religious perspective, representatives of both Islam and Christianity emphasized the moral and spiritual consequences of reckless driving. They reminded drivers that causing a loss of life, whether intentional or accidental, carries severe repercussions.

The religious leaders also encouraged the FRSC to expand its sensitization campaigns, particularly by involving students from primary and secondary schools through FRSC clubs for greater outreach.

In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of Giwa Local Government Council, Hon. Shehu Haske, described the event as timely and relevant. He called on the FRSC to collaborate with the government to address the poor condition of roads, which often contributes to accidents and the loss of innocent lives.

In a goodwill message delivered by Fagachin Zazzau, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, commended the FRSC for its proactive approach. He expressed his support for the corps' initiatives, citing his donation of a trophy for a driving competition scheduled for December in Kaduna as a gesture of encouragement.
