The Prestige FM Radio, a Minna based private radio station, has retracted and apologize for the false report aired on the radio station on Tuesday, the 3rd December 2024, as regard and alleged attack on the convoy of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of the station, Alhaji Zubair Abdulrauf Idris in a statement explained that the management of the station deeply expressed concern over the misstep of the editorial team and the misrepresentation of facts in the news bulletin.

"We understand that this report has caused embarrassment to the Government of Niger State and the Governor, and for that, we are truly sorry." he noted.

Alhaji Abdulra'uf Idris, urged the government of Niger State, to see the Radio Station and Journalists as friends, not foes in the commitment to address security and social challenges in the state.

"Our intention is to provide accurate and unbiased information to the public, and we fell short of this standard in this instance.

"We are taking immediate action to rectify our internal processes to prevent such mistakes from happening in the future," he asserted.

While appreciating the trust the station's listeners have placed in the management of the station, Alhaji Abdulrauf promised to work tirelessly to regain the trust.

"Once again, we apologize for any harm or inconvenience caused by our report, and we commit to upholding the highest standards of journalism," he concluded.
