The federal lawmaker representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. La'ori, has emphasized the importance of remembering past leaders, particularly those who contributed to national development, as a foundation for progress.
La'ori made this remark on Saturday during the commissioning of a conference hall named after Gabriel Wanai, which he constructed in Bare town, Numan Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
"Remembering our ancestors signifies gratitude for their contributions during their leadership. It also allows us to teach future generations about their legacy and learn from their efforts," La'ori said. He described Gabriel Wanai as a passionate community leader whose actions remain highly regarded.
La'ori advised the community to form a committee to maintain the newly commissioned conference hall. "This building is now yours, not mine. It is your responsibility to manage it and ensure its sustainability," he said.
The lawmaker further encouraged the people to foster unity and mutual understanding, emphasizing that these virtues are essential for continued access to developmental projects across the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the state legislators in attendance, the Majority Leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and representative for Demsa, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, commended La'ori as a visionary and dedicated leader.
Council chairmen from Demsa, Numan, and Lamurde praised La'ori, describing him as a beacon of hope for the community. "You are like a bright lamp that God has provided for us. We pray for even greater heights for you," they said.
Highlighting the durability of the project, they added, "This building will last for 20 to 30 years, unlike motorcycles that might not last beyond two years. You have shown us the way, and we will continue to follow. We also thank Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support."
In their remarks, the District Head of Bare, Heajaison Amna, and Elder Sebastian Dboilemdo expressed gratitude for La'ori’s efforts. However, they highlighted pressing community needs, including road repairs and a lack of electricity.
"For two years, we have been without electricity, and our roads are in poor condition. We thank you for keeping your promises and urge you to help us secure a transformer," they said.
The event also featured traditional dances to celebrate the occasion, while Rt. Hon. Kwamoti La'ori awarded scholarships to young students from Bare as part of his commitment to educational development.
