The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill to repeal and re-enact the Adamawa State Districts Creation Law, 2024. The bill was approved on Wednesday following the consideration and adoption of the report presented by the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by Hon. Kefas Calvin (Toungo Constituency).

The Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa Constituency), moved the motion for the third reading of the bill. It was seconded by Hon. Suleiman Alkali (Yola North Constituency).

After the bill's passage, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, instructed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy of the bill for onward transmission to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his assent.

The move to create new districts comes in response to recent demands from residents of the state. These requests were initially forwarded by Governor Fintiri to the State House of Assembly for legislative approval.
