A total of 180 Christian pilgrims from Adamawa State are set to embark on a pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan. Their departure from Yola International Airport is scheduled for Friday night at 10:00 PM.
The Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board organized an orientation and farewell service for the pilgrims on Friday morning at the EYN Church, State Low-Cost Estate, Yola. Speaking at the event, the board's Executive Secretary, Mr. George Garba, expressed gratitude to the state government for subsidizing the pilgrimage. He urged the pilgrims to make the most of this spiritual journey, adding that they are expected to return to Nigeria on February 3.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, addressed the pilgrims during the farewell service. She advised them to focus on the spiritual purpose of the trip and to avoid any negative behaviors. "Be worthy ambassadors of your family, your faith, Adamawa State, and the country as a whole," she said.
Bwaltam Bentley Biyapo, the paramount ruler of the Mbula Kingdom and leader of the government delegation, also encouraged the pilgrims to approach the journey with a spiritual mindset.
Reports indicate that the pilgrimage, originally planned for last year and titled "Israel and Jordan 2024," was delayed, mirroring similar postponements across the country.
