Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has recognised and awarded staff members from various departments, faculties, units, and institutes for their exceptional services and contributions to the university's growth and development. The ceremony, held at the Yusufu Bala Usman Hall, was organized by the university’s Rewards and Recognition System Committee, led by its Chairman, Professor Sani Abdullahi.
During the event, Professor Abdullahi highlighted the rigorous selection process undertaken by the committee to ensure fairness and credibility. Out of a total of 13,000 staff members, fewer than 200 were nominated for the awards. He emphasized that the initiative aims to motivate employees and foster healthy competition, ultimately driving the university’s progress.
Professor Abdullahi also praised the university administration for establishing the Rewards and Recognition System in 2023, which institutionalizes the appreciation of staff contributions. He noted that recognizing employees’ efforts is a powerful morale booster, reinforcing their commitment to excellence.
In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Bala, congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue excelling in their roles. He also urged other staff members to strive for excellence, assuring them that their hard work and dedication would not go unnoticed.
The ceremony underscored ABU Zaria’s commitment to celebrating and rewarding the dedication of its staff, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the institution.
