Mizani Publication Ltd, the publishers of Almizan newspaper, honoured five individuals and a company for their exceptional contributions to society during its 35th-anniversary celebration in Kano.

The event spanned three days, from January 10 to 12, 2025, and concluded on Sunday, January 12, at the Mambaya House auditorium.

The first recipient of the award was Almizan's pioneer Editor-in-Chief, Malam Ibrahim Musa. He was recognized for his pivotal role in ensuring the newspaper's sustainability and its commitment to delivering accurate information over the years. Malam Musa accepted the award alongside his team.

Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the founder of MAAUN Niger and Nigeria, FBIU Kaduna, and Canadian University, was also honored. He was celebrated for his contributions to journalism during his tenure as Chairman of the African Journalists’ Rights Protection, as well as for his extensive contributions to education in Nigeria and across Africa. The award was received on his behalf by Professor Mohammad Israr, President of MAAUN Nigeria, and Professor Abdullahi Muhammad Sabo, Vice Chancellor of FBIU Kaduna.

Posthumous recognition was given to the late Dr. Yusuf Ali for his enduring support and contributions to Almizan. His children, Malam Misbahu Yusuf Ali and Dr. Bilkisu Yusuf Ali, accepted the award on his behalf.

Media Trust, publishers of Daily Trust, Aminiya, Trust Radio, and Trust TV, was also honored for its 14 years of cooperation and partnership with Almizan. Malam Naziru Mika’il, a former Director at Media Trust, presented the award to the Daily Trust correspondent in Kano.

Additionally, the newspaper recognized Malam Saidu Sakafa, a renowned martyrs' singer from Potiskum, for his contributions to Almizan through his music over the years. The singer and his team graciously accepted the award.

The honorees expressed their gratitude for the recognition, wishing Almizan continued success and prominence within the community.

The three-day event featured speeches from scholars, journalists, and experts, drawing participants from various regions of the country, including reporters, staff members, and other well-wishers.
