Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed deep shock over a tanker explosion at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, which claimed several lives.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor described the incident as "worrisome, heartbreaking, and unfortunate."
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, as well as a speedy recovery for those injured.
Governor Bago urged residents to prioritize safety and act responsibly in such situations. He also directed all relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to take necessary actions to address the aftermath of the incident. Furthermore, he called on security agencies to ensure adequate security in the affected area.
According to reports, a Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker, commonly referred to as a petrol tanker, exploded at Dikko Junction earlier today. The explosion reportedly occurred after some residents attempted to scoop fuel from the leaking tanker. The tragic incident resulted in several fatalities and left many others with varying degrees of burns.
