The Chairman of the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Market Management Board, Mr. Newest Ageorge Kushi (popularly known as Pipiyo Batta), has announced the introduction of new laws and systems aimed at improving business activities and enhancing security in the market.

In an interview with Daily Struggles in Yola, Mr. Kushi stated that the new measures are designed to curb theft and protect property, revitalizing the market for both the people of Adamawa State and Nigerians at large.

“Before the introduction of these systems, there were frequent cases of thieves breaking into shops and stealing goods. We have made significant progress in addressing this by implementing a new law that mandates the closure of the market from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.," Kushi said.

He explained that security officers have been deployed to enforce the rules, adding that anyone caught violating the regulations will face fines. “This system is in place to protect the public’s property,” he emphasized.

Mr. Kushi called on traders to cooperate with the board, highlighting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens. He noted that the governor’s policies aim to boost business activities, which will ultimately benefit traders in the state.

“A market like the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Market cannot operate without regulations. We are working on plans to make the market more organized and appealing. For example, we aim to provide designated parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles and improve parking facilities to ensure that visitors feel secure about their vehicles.

“There are also issues of flooding in the market caused by blocked waterways, as some traders dispose of waste improperly. This will no longer be tolerated,” he warned.

Addressing concerns about the strictness of the new laws, Kushi remarked, “Reforms often come with challenges, but these measures are for the greater good. Once the systems are fully in place, those who initially complained will see the benefits.”

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for entrusting him with the leadership of the market and urged traders to continue supporting and praying for the governor as he works toward achieving his developmental goals for Adamawa State.
