Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has directed that all casual staff working in general hospitals across the state receive a monthly pay of N80,000.

The governor fondly referred to as the "Farmer Governor," issued the directive while addressing a group of aggrieved casual workers from Minna General Hospital who visited the Government House.

Governor Bago explained that the move aims to ensure that casual workers are paid in line with the approved minimum wage in the state, acknowledging that not all of them can be immediately absorbed into the state civil service.

In addition, he announced automatic appointments for casual staff with degree qualifications who have served between 10 and 15 years. Those with diploma qualifications will be given appointments on probation, provided they upgrade their certificates within three years.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of Niger State residents, emphasizing that measures like these are aimed at fostering a better working environment and addressing the grievances of workers.
